Help and contact
We answer every email
Something not working, or not obvious? Email [email protected] and a human will reply within one working day (UK time). If it's a bug, tell us what you tapped and what happened. That's almost always enough to find it.

Before you start
Does volleyOS replace the official scoresheet?
Keeps your official scoresheet. volleyOS does not replace the referee's paper or FIVB scoresheet. The official sheet stays the record of the match. volleyOS adds live scores for everyone who isn't there, stats for the coach and a season record for the club.
What language is the app in?
The app is in English for now.
Does it follow FIVB rules?
It supports indoor best of 3 or 5, with 25-point sets and a 15-point deciding set, rotation and libero rules. Beach uses 21/21/15. Keep using your official scoresheet as the match record.
Who actually does the scoring?
One person scores courtside on their phone, usually a parent or a player who is off. Each point takes one tap. The app does not use a camera or try to score the match automatically.
Does everyone need to install something?
Only whoever is scoring. Everyone else opens a link in the browser they already have. There is no camera, video or upload. Only the score travels, which is why it survives a bad hall connection.
Can we add matches we played before volleyOS?
Yes. Type in the set scores and the match joins your history and season records. There is no point-by-point log behind it, just the scoreline and the winner, but it counts like any other match.
Is it safe for a club with juniors?
Yes. Public match pages hide player names unless a team chooses otherwise, and a team marked junior can never show them. Rosters and milestones stay inside the club. Adult teams can switch to initials or full names when their players agree. See safeguarding and data for the detail.
Scoring
The hall has no signal. Will I lose points?
No. Points are saved on the phone as you tap and sync when a connection comes back. The scoreboard keeps working the whole time. People watching the link may briefly see an older score, then catch up automatically.
The scorer's phone died mid-match
Anyone else in the club can open the match on their own phone and carry on scoring, and the points the dead phone had already saved aren't lost. They sync as soon as it's back. A flat battery at 18–16 doesn't end the match.
I gave a point to the wrong team
Tap the point in the timeline and choose Remove this point, then tap the correct team. Every score after it recalculates. Undo also works across the end of a set.
Do I have to tag every rally?
No. Tagging who got the kill is optional and never blocks the next point. Tap the team, then tag it afterwards if you want to. There are three scoring modes: Quick (the score only), Standard (the score, plus why each point was won and by whom) and Advanced. You pick one when you create the match. Quick and Standard are free. You can change modes from the scoring screen; enabling Advanced requires Coach access and an indoor match. Nothing already recorded is lost.
What is Advanced mode?
Advanced puts the court on the scoring screen. Tap who passed and rate the pass 0–3, then tap attacks, digs and blocks as they happen. After the match you get pass ratings for every player, hitting %, how often you side out after each quality of pass, and who the other team served at in each rotation. It needs a lineup, and it is part of Coach (the 14-day trial includes it). An authorised scorer can score a match a coach set to Advanced.
The libero isn't coming on
The libero comes on only through a libero plan. Open Lineup for the match, choose the libero and the players they replace (usually the two middles, three spots apart in the service order), and save. The team's automatic libero setting fills this in for you: turn it on in the team's settings. On the court, an L marks the libero. A middle who is serving stays on unless your libero is allowed to serve.
Preparing matchday
How do players reply to availability?
Tap Yes, Maybe or No on the Next up card at the top of home, or open the scheduled match. Players can add a private note that only the organizer reads. The organizer sees the totals and can remind only the players who have not replied.
The match says "no response requested"
You are on the team, so you can see the match, but you were not among the players invited to it. Only invited players are asked for availability and only they get the reminders. Everyone on the roster is invited by default; an organizer can narrow that on the Matchday screen, and can add you later with Invite on your row.
Where do I set the rotation?
On the Matchday screen, open Set starting rotation and place the six players on the court. Each team remembers its last lineup, so the next match can start from it. During the match, Rotation and libero shows the live court and lets the scorer make back-row libero changes. Quick scoring has no rotation.
Who receives matchday reminders?
Only the invited players who have not replied. Nobody who has already answered is chased, and nobody outside the invited list is contacted. It runs automatically before the match, and Remind players with no reply on the Matchday screen sends it on demand. It is the only reminder about availability; following a team is separate and opt-in (see below).
Sharing
Can my phone tell me when my team is playing?
Yes. Follow a team in the app and you get a notification when one of their matches goes live, with a tap straight into the score, and another when it finishes with the result. You choose which teams, one at a time, so a four-team club is not four times the interruption. volleyOS asks for notification permission after a match has finished, never on first launch.
Someone sent me a code, not a link
Open Find a match in the app and paste the code or the link. It opens the same read-only view, for a live match or a finished one. You do not need to be in the club.
How do people watch?
Every match has a link. Anyone can open it in a browser without an app or account. The score updates point by point as you tap. It isn't a video stream: there's no camera and nothing to upload, so it works on the worst hall wifi and burns almost no data for the people following along.
Can I schedule a match in advance?
Yes. When you create a match choose Scheduled and pick a day and time. It appears on your club page under "Coming up" so people know when to watch, and you start it when the first serve goes up.
Clubs
How do teammates join?
A club admin can invite them by the email address they use for volleyOS and optionally connect the invitation to their roster profile. The invitation appears in their You tab. The six-character club code still works when people are joining together courtside.
How does a player connect their stats?
Open Insights and choose your name under Connect your player profile. Once connected, your own raw match and season numbers are free permanently. An admin can also connect the roster spot while sending an invitation.
Is my club page public?
Only if you turn it on. Club page → Public page. Even then it shows your teams, results and records. It never shows your roster, your members or matches you haven't shared.
Account
How does the Coach trial work?
Each eligible account can start one 14-day Coach trial from the Plans screen, with no payment. It opens Advanced scoring and the full player, rotation and season analysis for existing tagged matches as well as new ones, where the required data was recorded. When the trial ends, nothing is charged and your recorded data remains. Unless you have other Coach access, full Coach analysis locks and enabling Advanced on a new match requires Coach. Quick and Standard remain free, and existing Advanced-enabled matches remain scoreable.
How do I cancel or change a subscription?
Subscriptions are handled by your app store. In the app, open You → Plans → Manage subscription, or go to your Apple ID subscriptions in Settings. Android purchases are coming soon; when available, manage them in Google Play subscriptions. Canceling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. See the subscription terms.
I bought a plan but it isn't showing
Open You → Plans → Restore purchases while signed in to the volleyOS account you want the plan on. A subscription restored on a different volleyOS account moves to that account. A Club plan always stays with the club it was bought for.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: You → Manage clubs and account → Delete my account. It removes your login and your club membership permanently. If you are the last member of your club, the club and its rosters go too. See the privacy policy for exactly what is kept.
I forgot my password
On the sign-in screen, type your email and tap Forgot password? We'll email you a reset link. If you signed in with Google or Apple, use that button instead. There is no volleyOS password on those accounts.
